Q: I want to register with C.L.A. Personnel. What do I need to do?
R: The first step is to send us your most up-to-date resume. It will be reviewed by our recruitment team, and if your resume is selected, a member of our team will contact you to arrange an interview.
Q: Are there registration fees?
R: No. Registration is free.
Q: Do you keep part of my salary?
R: No. That is a widespread belief that is untrue. The client pays for our services. When you register with C.L.A, you are required to tell us your salary requirements. Before each contract, your hourly rate will be confirmed with you. For example, if your contract stipulates that you get $14.00 an hour, that is what you will be paid, plus a 4% vacation pay.
Q: Do you have contracts with the Federal Government?
R: Yes. C.L.A. Personnel holds a permanent offer with the Federal Government.
Q: Do you only offer contract positions?
R: No. Many of our private sector clients are looking for full time employees. We offer permanent placements services to our clients.
Q: How do I get to your office?
R: To see a map to our office, click here.
Q: Do I have to be bilingual?
R: No. You do not have to be bilingual to submit your resume, however the majority of the positions we fill require bilingual candidates.
Q: In what areas do you provide placements?
R: We fill a large variety of positions in many sectors, depending on the needs of our clients. However, we specialise in the administrative sector (administrative support, professional, management, accounting, etc.)
Q: Can a client for whom I am working hire me?
R: Yes. However there are certain time obligations and restrictions. Your C.L.A. advisor can let you know about the minimum time requirements involved.
Q: I would like to know if I am entitled to a paid holliday in my situation?
R: Standards are different from one province to another. First you need to determine if you are working in Ontario or Québec, and then consult our employees's guide to find out more or get more details about the current labour standards of your province of employment by visiting:
Commission des Normes du Travail du Québec: http://www.cnt.gouv.qc.ca/fr/index.asp
Ministry of Labour of Ontario: http://www.labour.gov.on.ca/index.html
Q: Do I have to pass examinations?
R: Yes. Each candidate in the administrative support category must pass a series of exams to finalize their file with C.L.A. Personnel. Tests are administered to assess the candidate's typing speed, grammar, punctuation and spelling, clerical skills, and knowledge of recognized computer programs. The tests are administered in the candidate's first language. Candidates must also pass bilingual exams to assess their mastery of the second language. In addition, part of your interview with a consultant will be held in English to evaluate your ability to express yourself and answer questions in your second language.
Q: Can I get security clearance through C.L.A. Personnel?
R: Yes. You must get security clearance for any job with the Government of Canada. The level of security clearance is determined by the nature of the work to be performed, the sensitivity of records handled or the activities undertaken. Given that we have a Temporary Help Supplier status, the Department of Public Works and Government Services authorises us to file applications on behalf of our employees in order to serve the needs of the Government of Canada. The security screening is sponsored by C.L.A. Personnel and is carried out by the Department's Industrial Security Division.
